Grouping the countless islands of Oceania into one continent is a bit arbitrary, really, as Tasmania and Fiji don’t have a whole lot in common. Nevertheless, Oceania is a fascinating region, and Australia alone is enough to keep any outdoor enthusiast occupied for years: especially if taking into consideration the time spent dodging poisonous snakes and spiders. I have spent a lot of time in Australia and very little elsewhere – a 2009 trip to the Solomon Islands didn’t generate any photos worth showing here today – but that simply means it’s a region worth exploring more in the not too distant future.
